ITL has the capability to perform Rapid Cycle Stress testing at any customer requested, or lighting program specified on/off cycle times.  In addition to having both base-up and base-down bare sockets available for this testing, ITL also has recessed “can” housings and enclosed ceiling mount luminaires that can be used for both Rapid Cycle Stress testing and Lumen/Color Maintenance testing.

As an example of a lighting program’s requirements, below are the test program requirements for Rapid Cycle Stress testing Compact Fluorescent lamps, section 10.3 for the Energy Star program:

Compact Fluorescent

Lamp, when cycled at 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off, shall survive the lesser number of cycles: one cycle per hour of rated life or 15,000 cycles. At least 5 units shall survive the minimum number of cycles.

CFLs with a start time of ≤100 milliseconds, shall survive cycling once per every two hours of rated life, at 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off.

Sample Size: 6 units per model. The samples shall be unique for this test.

For dimmable or multi-power lamps, testing shall be conducted at the highest wattage setting listed for the model.
